Not A Retraction

I haven't checked my blog in a couple days, and now I see that I have 21 comments on the Cheney post! Holy cow. It is good that I encouraged a discussion. That was my intent, but I never expected such a large response from THAT post.

The response was great, both positive and negative. That is the whole point of a "discussion". If you've read the rest of my stuff, you will realize that most of it is just stuff I'm trying to get off my chest; hence the title "Random Abstract Thoughts". I am just trying to learn how to write something that is clear and coherent. I am trying to take the reader from a "Point A" to a "Point B".

Based on a couple of comments, I see where I wasn't too clear on several of points.

On a first point, yes I am well aware that Cheney's comments on the Senate floor had absolutely nothing to do with Iraq, terrorism or a mother locking her child in a car on a hot summer day. I am fully aware that Mr. Cheney was responding to a comment made by Mr. Leahy regarding Mr. Cheney's religious beliefs (and is THIS type of aggressive comment not allowed on the Senate floor? To me, that would have been a personal offense!) My final comment in my initial post was an ATTEMPT to make a point. I see that I failed in this attempt, to some extent.

On a second point, yes I would love to see this type of aggressiveness (Cheney's comment) from ANY administration that is in office, whether it is Democrat or Republican, with or without the profanity. I abhore hearing things that are obviously SCRIPTED. If it is not a "speech", I am sure that anyone who is holding a public office has a predetermined set of responses for any question that is fired at them.

On the last point, yes I feel anger towards certain news items. I still feel anger over the 9/11 attacks - and if you say "It's in the past, let it go." then fk you! I feel anger over the slaughter of innocence, whether it's in Iraq, Saudi, Afghanistan, Turkey or right here in our own back yard. I feel anger over the 7-11 cashier who was slaughtered for $50 cash. I feel anger anytime there is a pedophile shown on the news. And yes, I feel anger over the mother that locks her toddler in a car, on a hot summer day.

And it goes on and on.....

If YOU don't feel anger for any of these items, then you are the weakest link goodbye! You are already dead from the neck up, saturated from too much media input and media overload. Tell me there aren't news items or items in the media that want to make you shout out a "F__K YOU!"?

I still completely respect Cheney's remarks on the Senate floor. It was unscripted. He stated what he was truely feeling at that moment. I would like to see more of this attitude from our politicians, please. Not just the anger emotion, but I want to see something other than the job requirement for a "talking head". I don't want to see the prim and proper "poised for the media" response. I want to see a "from the heart" response, whether it's anger or something lighter; like god forbid....humor. (It's been awhile since any person in office has laughed at his or herself)
