Is it just me, or is this year becoming the complete sterilization of the traditional “Christian” Christmas? Lately, the news has been abounding with incidents of cities replacing “Merry Christmas” with “Happy Holidays”, the profound replacement of “Christmas” with “Xmas”, the banning of Christmas Carols at certain schools, etc. No one disputes that the founders of this country had predominantly Christian beliefs. There is still that one item of “….the separation of Church and State…....

Ever have one of those days in the blogging community, where you woke up with a dynamite idea for a post? You proceeded to develope it in your head through out the day, during work hours, and came home saying "Yeah...I have a blog masterpiece!"? And then you read the responses to your other blog submissions. You spend a fair amount of time responding to your previous posts, and next thing you know, the "masterpiece" that you had in your head when you got home from work, is now complete...

I have not viewed Fahrenheit 911, nor have I viewed anything else that Michael Moore has done. From everything that I've heard and read, it is not a "documentary", and should not be classified as such. It should not be defined as a "documentary" because there is no opposing view. It is simply Michael Moore, stating his views regarding 9/11. So where does that leave a "pro-Bush" person? Would I watch it? The answer is "yes", but only after it is available on DVD. Why Would I Wat...

For the second time in as many days, there has been a report on the news regarding the potential ill (long term) effects of the Atkins Diet. Well, it's about dang time! I was wondering when there would be an intelligent, scientific opposition to this diet fantasy. Granted, I am not overweight. I am the unfortunate recipient of some "high metabolism" gene. I actually have to eat A LOT and work out to keep the weight on. I am not working out regularly now, but when I was working out ...

In my 42 years, I don't believe that I have never done the research on this. Cannon balls DO NOT explode, as much as Hollywood insist's that they do. Or do they? I saw "The Patriot" a few years back, and I was quite amazed at the "reality" of the movie. For all of it's war violence, it was very elegantly directed. One of the minor items from this movie that was pigeon-holed into the back of my brain was the fact that the cannon balls didn't explode. In the movie, the cannon projecti...

I had a restless night last night. I spent a half hour surfing the cable channels for something that would either hold my attention, or lull me into a peaceful slumber. I stumbled on to something completely, utterly terrifying - Geraldo Rivera in Afghanistan, with Jesse Jackson offering live commentary. I watched this sitting bolt upright, clutching the blankets in sheer terror, as the cold sweat poured from my brow. I still get shivers just thinking about it! That cheesey smile, t...

My room mate made the comment this morning: "Boy, your IQ certainly drops a couple of notches on the weekends." I have no argument there. During the Monday-to-Friday work week, my job requires me to be "analytical", "inqusitive" , to look at things from different angles and also to look at things from a "direct cause and effect" standpoint. So during the work week, my television "likes" are the local and national news and current events, TLC, CourtTV, Discovery, The History Channel etc...

So, there I was driving to work this morning. It's a 4-lane road and the two lanes in my direction were moving at a pretty good clip. The pack of cars I was trailing was pushing 55 in 45 MPH zone. Both lanes of traffic in my direction were more or less, travelling at about the same speed. Suddenly, and seemingly out of no where, a Ford F150 comes screaming up to my bumper with inches to spare. All I could see was "grill" in my rearview mirror. Apparently, my lane was not moving fast...

I am forced to listen to AM talk radio in my truck. I am "forced" because my FM died a couple years ago and I have a cassette jammed in the tape player (Eagles Greatest Hits, Vol. 2). There is a local radio talk show host that is aired 3pm to 7pm. My drive time home from work is 4:30pm to 5:00pm. So basically, I only get to hear about 30 minutes of the show. The topic yesterday (Tuesday) was "Smoking On Your Work Break". Apparently, there is a law firm here in Richmond, VA that has ...

[Author's note: Moved from "Politics" to "Blogging"]I have felt a need to get this off of my chest. Reagan as a human being, not a politician or a Republican. I graduated from high school in 1981. Before that time, I was merely on the periphery of global events. It was not until I attended college that I became submerged in world events. I mean really, from a peer pressure standpoint, I was forced to become knowledgable in world events to carry a half-way decent conversation with ot...

I've been considering a blog for many months now. Without even remotely trying to make this appear as a solicitation on a "Dating" website, I'm forty-something, male, jack of all trades - master of none. There are a lot of things that I want to say, which I DO say on a regualr basis to close friends. But those conversations are only transient. They fall by the wayside. A blog is just one way for me to see what a complete idiot I can be sometimes. If I were to pick a color to descr...
