I remember renting My Cousin Vinnie (1992) when it came to video in 1993 (+/-). At the time I thought it was a "likeable" video, but it was not a movie that, at the time, I would rate as a "classic". Since then, I have viewed bits and pieces of it on various networks, but not in it's entirety. Today I had the opportunity to watch it in it's entirety, edited, on Comedy Central. This is a TIGHT movie! And no CGI! The script is excellent. Although the plot has been construed to be "...

I am completely tweaked right now, and bouncing off the walls! Over the past week, an unforseen "financial" issue has arisen with a close, personal friend of mine. Being the person I am, I am all for resolving this issue in a logical, rational manner. I will do what needs to be done. Period. And then came the comment. Actually, there were several comments, but the one comment which makes me want to put a hole in the drywall, is the one that illuded to the fact that I am trying to ...

Are you aware of the growing technology-savvy terrorists that are on the rise? Terrorists certainly aren't the 3rd-world, illiterate individuals as the general Western public perceives them to be. They are hacking website servers in an endeavor to proclaim their accomplishments, publicizing their rhetoric, and in some instances, offering their multimedia downloads as well. This idea peaked my interest several months ago with a link to a Windows Media video of the Nick Berg murder on th...

Obviously, I was able to log in tonight! I have had some login woes for the past several days. On Monday (7/12), I was able to log in as usual. On Tuesday, everytime I tried to log in, I would get an error message about my browser "Not Accepting Cookies". The problem was, my browser IS accepting cookies! I am thinking that this login issue is still a slippery slope. I was able to log in 10 minutes ago, so I decided to, just for grins, log out and log back in again. I got the "coo...

I am curious as to why everyone, the general public, the politicians as well as the media giants, are so intent on "finger pointing"? Has anyone ever considered that the events of 9/11 occured because of multiple faults, across multiple agencies, over multiple generations? If you are a conspiracy theorist, then you will make an attempt to zero-in on one individual, one agency or one administration. Are we (the US) that pompous to exclaim "No no, it certainly wasn't OUR fault!". Well...

I am in a melancholy mood. Our Icons are succumbing to their mortality. We have lost Harrison, Entwhistle, DeForest Kelley, Reagan, Hope and Brando in the last 12 months. Michael J. Fox has Parkinson's. And today I read that James Doohan, "Scotty" from the original Star Trek series, has Alzheimer's. http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/weblogs/brain/archives/000531.html It makes me wonder who the "icons" will be 20, 30, 40 years from now. Spears? Slim Shady? LLS

I will state up front that I do not follow tennis. I follow tennis the way I follow golf and Nascar, in which the 'winners" are generally noted, but not necessarily my forte' in a discussion. The "winners" are simply filed away in the dark caverns of my brain, never again to see the light of day either in speech or in writing. Enter Maria Sharapova. The name has been liberally spilled all over the media lately, and I've been saying to myself, "Who is this?", as the name was new to me....

In 1996, Atlanta, Georgia hosted the Summer Olympic Games. Prior to the start of the events, I recall hearing and reading about the strict security precautions that were to be implemented. Yet somehow, something still went wrong. At approximately 1:00 AM, on Saturday, July 27, 1996, a pipe bomb exploded in Olympic Centennial Park. The pipe bomb, concealed in either a duffel bag or backpack, wounded approximately 100 people. There were no fatalities. ( http://www.emergency.com/olymbom2...

Ever have one of those days in the blogging community, where you woke up with a dynamite idea for a post? You proceeded to develope it in your head through out the day, during work hours, and came home saying "Yeah...I have a blog masterpiece!"? And then you read the responses to your other blog submissions. You spend a fair amount of time responding to your previous posts, and next thing you know, the "masterpiece" that you had in your head when you got home from work, is now complete...

I haven't checked my blog in a couple days, and now I see that I have 21 comments on the Cheney post! Holy cow. It is good that I encouraged a discussion. That was my intent, but I never expected such a large response from THAT post. http://lenbert.joeuser.com/articleComments.asp?AID=19317 The response was great, both positive and negative. That is the whole point of a "discussion". If you've read the rest of my stuff, you will realize that most of it is just stuff I'm trying to ge...

I have not viewed Fahrenheit 911, nor have I viewed anything else that Michael Moore has done. From everything that I've heard and read, it is not a "documentary", and should not be classified as such. It should not be defined as a "documentary" because there is no opposing view. It is simply Michael Moore, stating his views regarding 9/11. So where does that leave a "pro-Bush" person? Would I watch it? The answer is "yes", but only after it is available on DVD. Why Would I Wat...

I use to think Dick Cheney was a wimp. Until today. During a heated discussion with Senator Patrick Leahy (D), Cheney dropped the F-bomb against the opposing Senator. The reports are varied, but Cheney's remarks had something to do with Leahy "having intercourse with himself". Now THAT is the type of assertivness I want to see from our administration! It has always made me squeamish with the "....well, maybe we did, maybe we didn't have the information...". Good god, man, where are ...

To Whom It May Concern. Thank you. In all seriousness, Jay has mentioned that he has studied the "old style" comics. I have as well, all though comic I am not. Writer, yes I am in some nebulous capacity. From Lewis & Martin, to Hope, to Abbott & Costello, to Rickles, to Hacket, to Berle, to Silvers, to Winters et al, Jay is merely breathing fresh air into the tried and true. And for those of you who have not immersed themselves in the aforementioned comics, you simply won't "get" ...
